St. Elisabeth’s Welcomes Bishop Libby


On Sunday 7th June St. Elisabeth’s held the Civic Service in the presence of new of The Worshipful the Mayor and Mayoress ofStockport. The service was attended by a number of past Mayors along with representatives from churches across Stockport and other Civic Dignitaries.

The congregation was thrilled to welcome The Rt Revd Bishop of Stockport, Libby Lane, who presided at the Eucharist on this special occasion.

The Liturgy of the Word (1 Samuel 8:4-15) was read by Joe Connell, a young carer and the sermon was delivered by by Revd. Peter Reiss Director of Mission and Ministry at the Diocese of Manchester. 

Following the service, the congregation and visitors were invited to stay for refreshments and a chance to meet the Mayor, Mayoress and Bishop Libby. Music was kindly provided by the talented orchestra from Reddish Vale High School.
