Quiet Day at The Community of the Resurrection, Mirfield
On Saturday 19th September Rev. Penny and a number of parishioners enjoyed a visit to The Community of the Resurrection at Mirfield for a ‘Quiet Day’.
Cath Lingenfelter writes about her experience of Mirfield.
Not knowing what to expect, we set off with a sense of curiosity but came away with an inner peace and knowledge that God is always with us, we just need to make the time for him in our daily lives.
The group was welcomed by Brother Dennis and spent most of the time with Brother Jacob, who guided us on our day.
The day was spent learning about monastic life, the importance of prayer and reflection and finding time for God.
Mirfield is an idyllic place, which enabled us to step out of our busy lives, share time with the monks and experience monastic worship.
We were able to spend the day enriching our own spiritual journeys with God, whilst allowing time for discussion, contemplative prayer and stillness.
I will always treasure the day spent at Mirfield and hope that I will be able to have the chance to visit again. But most of all I hope to remember the importance of spending time with God to enrich our lives. Oh, and the home grown apples, pasties and refreshments were delicious!
Thank you to Penny for arranging such a wonderful day.
