In the beginning (Genesis 1.1-4)
1In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, 2the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. 3Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light. 4And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. 5God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
We are, each of us, called to witness to the Gospel, to act as lights in the world (Matthew 5.14-16), revealing what it means to follow Jesus, to have his compassion and charity for the world. For each of us that means a different thing, using our talents for the good of the wider community.
Thanks to the hard work of Tony & Graham, we are now able to see properly again in Church, with our full complement of lights. We give thanks for them and for all the people amongst us who work behind the scenes to help the family of St Elisabeth's serve the wider community of Reddish.
